I love coaching and seeing the transformational impact it can have on people.

However, self-promotion is not really my thing, but I know that it is necessary to help me get new clients.

As I sat down with a sinking heart to write a post today, I asked myself “What are you assuming that is stopping you?”

In minutes I had written the following conversation that I had with my interfering Inner Voice – Ivy:

Ivy:       This is hard and uncomfortable work.
Me:      So is exercising and I don’t have a problem with doing that three times a week.

Ivy:       You aren’t good at writing useful and engaging posts.
Me:      People have liked my recent posts about my Camino experience.

Ivy:      But you won’t be able to write one that is better than the last.
Me:     It doesn’t have to be better. It just needs to say something that will be helpful to others.

Ivy:       You don’t know who you’re targeting.
Me:      Do I need a target audience? I’m writing from my heart and if my posts resonate with people then they are a valuable audience.

Ivy:       You can’t think of anything original to say.
Me:      You’ve just given me an idea. Thanks!

What are you assuming that is stopping you?

Would a conversation with your inner voice help?

Or perhaps a conversation with another person?
